The military Forces and the National Police have intensified their patrols and coordinated operations in Guapi, Cauca, after the community of this municipality denounced the presence of alleged members of the Organized Armed Group ELN and FARC dissidents in the vicinity of this territory.
According to the information provided by the community, which is already under review by the Attorney General's Office, four homicides were reported on June 19 of this year, apparently as a result of a confrontation by the José María Becerra front of the Organized Armed Group ELN and the Rafael Aguilera, Structure 30, of the Residual Organized Armed Group, for the control of drug trafficking routes in the area.
For its part, the Navy of Colombia once had knowledge of the facts, strengthened the operations of search and territorial control, increasing the strength with the deployment of two boats of the river Navy Infantry and an Element of River Combat, this with the objective of carrying out military operations to expel the criminal organizations in this region of the country, furthermore to prevent they continue to generate fear and confinement among the inhabitants of this municipality.
It is important to highlight that once the Democracy Plan was completed, our troops have assumed a new operation to maintain operations throughout the Pacific Coast.
In the same way, authorities conducted a Security Council with the participation of the Governor of Chocó, the Municipal Mayor of Guapi, the Personería municipal, the office of the Ombudsman, the office of the Attorney General, the National Army, the Navy of Colombia and the National Police, where they settled strategies with the objective of ensuring the safety and tranquility of the community of Guapi.
