With a successful report and a positive impact on the inhabitants of the nine departments of the country's northern region, where men and women of the Naval Force of the Caribbean conduct their operations, the work carried out by units of the Navy of Colombia during the first half of 2022 culminated successfully in terms of security and development.
The deployment of the Caribbean Coast Guard units, Surface Flotillas and Submarines, the Caribbean Naval Aviation Group, the Navy Infantry troops, the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) of Bolívar and Sucre and the unrestricted support of the Specific Command of San Andrés y Providencia, the Task Force Against Drug Trafficking No. 73 Neptuno, based in Turbo - Antioquia and the Navy Infantry Brigade No.1, in Corozal, Sucre, have led to the achievement of institutional objectives, to work to create a safe and prosperous environment for the region.
Thus, thanks to continuous and sustained operations against drug trafficking, the Caribbean Naval Force, in the first semester, has managed to find more than 83 tons of cocaine hydrochloride, preventing about 2,739 million dollars, the price of the drug on the international illegal market, from entering the financial structures of the narco-terrorist organizations, especially the Clan del Golfo. It is noteworthy that in this period it was possible a historic finding of 3.4 tons of cocaine valued at about 115 million dollars in the Archipelago department, becoming the largest find in the history in this department.
The operation against drug trafficking, extortion and criminal mining ordered by the Presidency of the Republic has been carried out with joint coordinated and combined operations, successfully hitting the whole criminal chain linked to these problems.
Among the main results obtained by the units, troops report the finding and controlled destruction of 41 laboratories for the production of cocaine, as well as the finding of 154 tons of solid precursors and more than 76 thousand gallons of liquid precursors for the manufacture of narcotic drugs.
The deployment of the men and women of the Colombian Navy in the Colombian Caribbean and the coordinated work with the National Police and the judicial institutions of the State has led to the arrest of 665 members of illegal organizations that committed crimes in areas under the responsibility of the Caribbean Naval Force.
