In order to commemorate World Space Week 2022, an event that is celebrated year after year from October 04 to 10 in more than 95 countries, the Colombian Air Force, in coordination with the Colombian Space Agency, carries out academic activities, simultaneously at the FAC post- Graduate School and the Marco Fidel Suárez Military Aviation School.
Among the most relevant activities of this week, the talks of the guest Astronaut and Pilot of the United States Air Force, Colonel Michael Hopkins, with his presentation Experience as an astronaut in human space flight that takes place in various environments of the capital city of our country, such as the postgraduate School of FAC, the Planetarium of Bogotá and Maloka, as well as in the city of Cali, at the Military Aviation School Marco Fidel Suarez, with the aim of promoting space culture in Colombia through the integration of the State, industry and Academia around the strategies to consolidate Space Power in our country.
These academic activities in the same way have presentations by the first crew of analog astronauts of the Colombian Air Force, who during the last month of August of this year, carried out the simulation of a space mission in a habitat in conditions similar to those lived on the moon, at the Analog Astronaut Training Center (AATC) in Poland, as part of their preparation, which seeks for the year 2030, to make possible the project led by the Colombian air force (FAC) to take the first Colombian astronauts to space.
In the same way, these academic spaces in the same way have the participation of the girls of the She Is Foundation, as special guests, who were part of the She is an astronaut program.
The academic events seek to reach professionals, military and people in general who interact in the field of air and space operations of the FAC, together with other Institutions, fulfilling the purpose of generating environments of dissemination of information and space education in Colombia.
