Troops of the Antioquia Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) in inter agency work with the Technical Investigation Corps of the Attorney General's Office, found and arrested the individual William de Jesús Vásquez García, ringleader of the gang La Miel at the service of the GAO Clan del Golfo, and known as alias Tarzan.
This ringleader is accused of the crimes of extortion, forced disappearance, association to commit aggravated crimes, displacement and others. He was in the same way considered the terror of the village of Bolombolo for being the alleged responsible for several selective homicides.
The operation was carried out in the rural area of the village of the municipality of Venecia in Antioquia, when alias Tarzan was surprised by troops of the Antioquia Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) with its judicial component, who immediately arrested him.
According to the investigation carried out by the intelligence unit of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) - Antioquia, which lasted more than a year, the arrested man had menaced the Councilor of the municipality of Bolombolo, and also he was the ringleader of hitmen of this structure at the service of the GAO Clan del Golfo; he had fled twice, wounding a policeman to whom he fired shots.
It should be noted that with the arrest of alias Tarzán, the La Miel gang disintegrates, since in previous operations of the Antioquia Military Gaula, 16 other members had been arrested.
In addition to this arrest, the Military Gaula units made 29 more arrests for the crime of extortion during last week.
With these operational results the activities of criminal organizations are significantly hit and the confidence of the inhabitants in military institutions strengthens.
