One of those arrested would be the alleged finance chief of the Manuel José Gaitán substructure of the Organized Armed Group - GAO Clan del Golfo.
The Colombian Navy in development of two operations coordinated with the National Police and the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Attorney General of the Nation, arrested five individuals for the crime of extortion in the department of Sucre.
The first operation took place in the urban area of the municipality of Majagual – Sucre, where alias Porro, 41, was arrested, who was allegedly demanding 400 thousand pesos from the owners of commercial premises of the municipality. During his arrest, a motorcycle and a communication equipment were found by troops.
According to preliminary information, the arrested man would apparently be at the service of the Uldar Cardona Rueda substructure of the GAO Clan del Golfo and would be in charge of collecting money from extortion from ranchers and merchants in the Subregion of the Mojana Sucreña.
On the other hand, thanks to the timely call of the people through the Civic Participation Network and the immediate reaction of units of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) - Sucre and units of the National Police, in rural area of the municipality of Ovejas – Sucre, it was possible the arrest in flagrante of four individuals, including a woman, alleged members of the GAO Clan del Golfo, at the time when they would be collecting money from an extortion made against engineers who are participating in the construction of public works in the municipality.
Among those arrested is alias Gafas, who would be in charge of fulfilling the functions of financial administrator within the Manuel José Gaitán substructure of the GAO Clan del Golfo. In the same way, alias the Pollo who would be committing crimes such as collection of money from extortion in the municipalities that comprise the Subregion of the Montes de María and alias El Gordo and alias La India, who would be responsible for the security team of the head of finance of this organization.
At the time of the arrests, troops found five cell phones, three motorcycles and cash of the extortions. The arrested and the materials were put into custody of the Specialized Second and Fourth Prosecutor's Offices of Sincelejo for judicial process.
