In a military operation coordinated with the National Police, troops of the Fourth Brigade of the Army arrived at the village Brasilia, municipality of Sonsón, Antioquia, where they found and neutralized a five-hectare complex that was used to extract gold illegally.
A mining production unit, a backhoe, two motor pumps, a sorting machine and other elements that would belong to a common crime group were disabled at the site where they produced about four kilos of gold every month, with illicit profits close to 900 million pesos.
