Among those arrested are two alleged group ringleaders. In addition, three minors who had been forcibly recruited were recovered.
Thanks to a coordinated work with the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Attorney General's Office, troops of the National Army, in the La Pita village of the municipality of El Tambo, Cauca, dismantled two armed commissions of the residual Organized Armed Group, GAO-r, Carlos Patiño who were carrying out multiple criminal activities in this municipality.
Among those arrested is alias Janier, alleged group ringleader of the residual GAO Carlos Patiño, who is accused of crimes such as aggravated homicide and manufacturing, trafficking, carrying or possession of firearms. This individual had been in this residual structure for about two years and mainly covered Los Angeles village, in the municipality of El Tambo.
Alias Yohan, who apparently would in the same way be the ringleader of the residual GAO Carlos Patiño, was arrested; his area of interference would be the Baraya village of this same municipality.
According to military intelligence information, these commissions led by Janier and Yohan carried out forced recruitment activities of minors. They in the same way perpetrated targeted killings, threats, extortion, forced displacement and political organizational work in the municipality.
Eight handguns with their respective magazines, two fragmentation grenades, communications material and documentation relevant to military intelligence were in the same way found in the military operation. In the same way, two minors were recovered of the ranks of the GAO-r Carlos Patiño.
The three minors were put into custody of the State institutions for the restoration of their rights as victims of the armed conflict.
With this result, the National Army reaffirms its commitment to protect the human rights of civilians. It in the same way mitigates the multiple extortions that some companies in the area were suffering.
The troops continue in the area in order to continue damaging this residual structure in the department of Cauca.
