Within the framework of the comprehensive and inter-institutional strategy for life and peace, the Colombian Navy, through the Perseo Plan, jointly with the National Army, coordinated with the National and inter-institutional Police with the Attorney General's Office, arrested four alleged members of the Baudó substructure of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, in the department of Chocó.
The operation was carried out in the Charambirá sector, a rural area of the municipality of Litoral San Juan - department of Chocó, where Navy troops guided by Naval Intelligence information arrived. In the sector, the four individuals were arrested in flagrante delicto, including an alleged ringleader of this multicrime organization known as Águila, who would be in charge of leading the armed clashes conducted the GAO Clan del Golfo against the GAO ELN.
During the operation, a rifle, five small firearms, five units of ammunition, more than 300 pieces of ammunition of different calibers, a grenade, an improvised explosive device, a communication equipment, a speedboat, an engine and 2.1 kilograms of marijuana were found by troops.
These arrests are complemented by the results obtained in recent weeks in the rural area of Buenaventura, where more than 1,500 kilograms of marijuana, more than 3,500 gallons of fuel, nine weapons, more than 700 cartridges of different calibers, 36 communications equipment and military accessories material for the exclusive use of the Military Forces have been found, significantly hitting the armed structure and logistical capacity of the multicrime organizations that commit crimes in this area of the central Pacific. In the same way, a voluntary surrender of an alleged member of the GAO ELN was reported and a member of the FARC dissidents was brought to justice.
