The joint and inter-institutional work of the Colombian Navy, the National Army and the Attorney General's Office led to the arrest in recent hours of three members of the FARC and ELN dissidents. The individual alias Nano, arrested in Meta, is accused of being the ringleader of the residual Organized Armed Group E-10 Martin Villa, while the individuals alias Mono Gavilán and Sordo, arrested in Arauca, in a military operation in which the Colombian Air Force in the same way participated, would be part of the Batallón Héroes y Mártires, substructure of the Organized Armed Group - ELN.
Alias Nano
According to the investigations carried out, it is presumed that alias Nano, arrested in compliance with a judicial order during a search procedure at a rural house, in the municipality of Guamal - Meta, is a ringleader of the Residual Organized Armed Group E-10 Martin Villa, who is acciesed of the kidnapping of a National Army officer in the year 2021 in Saravena – Arauca and the murder of a Sergeant of the Colombian Navy during an attack perpetrated in 2020 with an improvised explosive device, in a rural area near the city of Arauca, an incident in which an officer and a sub officer of the National Police were in the same way seriously injured.
This individual, who, apparently, would belong to this illegal structure since 2017, had in his possession, at the time of his arrest, two firearms with 17 cartridges, more than five million pesos in cash, four cellular phones and documents that did not correspond to his true identity.
The arrested man was put into custody of the authorities in the city of Villavicencio - Meta, along with the material, to face charges for the crimes of homicide, association to commit crimes and manufacture or carrying of firearms for the exclusive use of the Military Forces.
Alias Mono Gavilán and alias Sordo
On the other hand, in compliance with a judicial order, they were arrested in the village Los Chorros in the rural area of Arauquita - Arauca, alias Mono Gavilán, alleged ringleader of the urban commandos of the substructure Batallón Héroes y Mártires of the GAO ELN and alias Sordo, who apparently functioned as a radio operator and a member of that group.
Those arrested are accused of planning, conducting and executing extortion operations against ranchers, merchants and fuel companies in the department of Arauca. In the same way, carrying out criminal intelligence on the Military Forces in order to conduct terrorist operations against them.
The arrested were found by troops with two pistols, four magazines, 67 cartridges, communication equipment and military accessory material, among other elements. They were put into custody of the authorities in the municipality of Arauca, along with the material, so that they can face justice for the crimes they are accused of.
