Within the framework of the Ayacucho Joint Campaign Plan, troops of the Hercules Joint Stabilization and Consolidation Task Force, in the course of two joint, coordinated and inter-institutional operations, hit the criminal structures of organized armed groups that commit crimes in the Nariño Pacific region.
In the first military operation, carried out in the municipality of Roberto Payán, department of Nariño, units of the Pegaso Operational Command, together with the Navy Infantry Brigade No.4, to recover a minor who had been forcibly recruited; in addition, they arrested in flagrante delicto 16 individuals belonging to the residual Organized Armed Group, Alfonso Cano Western Bloc, with abundant war material and explosives that according to military intelligence would be used to attack civilians and in confrontations with other structures that commit crimes such as drug trafficking.
In the second operation in the municipality of Olaya Herrera and Roberto Payán, it was possible the surrender to justice of three individuals, one of them a group ringleader known as alias Ciro of the residual Organized Armed Group Western Bloc Alfonso Cano.
During the operations, long and short weapons, a mortar, two grenades, eight explosive devices, communications equipment and military accessory material for the exclusive use of the Military Forces were found by troops.
The material found and those arrested were put into custody of the authorities for their respective prosecution.
With this result, the Colombian Military Forces will continue working in a coordinated manner with the different institutions, in order to weaken the organized armed groups and will strengthen efforts for the protection of the life of the communities that inhabit this important region of the country.
