With a heartfelt commemoration to remember the 20 people who died in the massacre that occurred on February 16, 2000 in the villages of Canutal and Canutalito, a rural area of the municipality of Ovejas - Sucre, a Comprehensive Action Activity led by the Colombian Navy in coordination with local authorities and private companies was launched to benefited more than 300 people.
After a three-hour journey and under the difficult terrain conditions, the Naval Institution arrived at the village of Canutal, where people had the opportunity to access general medicine, dentistry, psychology, social work, nursing, laboratory tests and vaccination services for free. In the same way, the children enjoyed recreational activities, distribution of school kits and snacks.
This activity, which was carried out in coordination with the Government of Sucre, the Municipal Mayor's Office of Ovejas, the Municipal Commissariat of Families, SISBEN, the Attorney General's Office of the Nation of the department of Sucre, the Ombudsman's Office, the Police of Childhood and Adolescence, the Unit for Victims, with the contribution of the Frutos de Corazón Foundation, the Sandra Beauty Salon Academy and SuperGiros, counted on the participation of the Group of Musicians of the Navy Infantry Training Base of Coveñas, who made a heartfelt tribute to the 20 inhabitants who were killed in a massacre perpetrated by groups outlaw.
During the activity, troops of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) Sucre toured the rural sector to publicize the I do not pay, I denounce campaign, making known the assistance lines for those beaten by the crimes of extortion and kidnapping.
