The material would cost approximately two billion pesos.
In a joint and coordinated operation, carried out by the Colombian Navy, the Colombian Air Force and the National Police, it was possible to find 6.7 kg of gold, at the moment when an individual was trying to enter the capital city of the country with the mineral.
The operation took place at the Air Bridge in the City of Bogotá, when, thanks to intelligence information provided by the Colombian Navy and coordination with the Colombian Air Force, units of the National Police's Directorate of Protection and Special Services arrested an individual when he arrived from Inírida (Guainía), with the mineral without any documentation to support the legality of its origin.
Thanks to the investigation carried out by the authorities, it was possible to determine that this mineral had been extracted illegally in an illegal mine in the department of Guainía, which belonged to the Acacio Medina Front of the FARC dissidents and that it was going to be traded illegally.
With this finding, approximately two billion pesos are taken by the illegal finances of the FARC dissidents, who are mainly responsible for the loss caused to the environment by illegal mining and for causing fear and anxiety in the ethnic communities that inhabit that region of the country.
The material found and the arrested individual were put into custody of the Authority.
