In search and area control operations, the Colombian Navy in coordination with the National Police reported the arrest of three alleged members of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, in the municipalities of Corozal, Buenavista and Galeras. Those arrested would belong to the Manuel José Gaitán substructure of the GAO Clan del Golfo, which commits crimes particularly in the department of Sucre.
One of the detainees is alias Luna or Felipe, who is part of the list of the most wanted of Sucre and is allegedly the second ringleader of posts of the criminal component in the subregion of the Sabana de sucre. This man would be in charge of leading and coordinating the criminal intelligence activities and the dynamization of selective homicides in the rural area of Galeras and San Benito, as well as coordinating the follow-ups against the Military Forces units in this area of the country.
His arrest took place at a road control checkpoint in the trunk that connects the municipality of Corozal, where troops of the Navy Infantry Battalion No. 14 and troops of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) were verifying the security of passers-by, reporting the identification of the individual and verifying that he had a valid arrest warrant for the alleged crimes of aggravated homicide and association to commit aggravated crimes for the purposes of homicide and drug trafficking.
Subsequently, in the second operation, alias Pica Piedra was arrested in the village of Palomo, municipality of Galeras - Sucre, this individual would be in charge of carrying out criminal intelligence on the Military Forces in this department.
Finally, through a search and area control operation, in the municipality of Buenavista, it was possible to arrest in flagrante delicto an individual for trafficking, manufacturing or carrying firearms.
The arrested persons were put into custody of the authorities for the arrest legalization procedures.
