Regardless of the weather conditions, soldiers and police officers carry out a frontal fight against criminal groups that commit crimes such as illicit drug trafficking. The most recent operation carried out by the Ninth Brigade of the National Army through the Pigoanza Battalion and the Huila Transit and Transport Sectional, led to the finding of 617 kilos of marijuana in a rural area of the municipality La Plata.
Apparently the person responsible for transporting the narcotic, intended to pass through Huila roads the load of marijuana taking advantage of the heavy rains in the west of the Department. However, when he noticed the operation of the Military Forces at the checkpoint, he backed off and started to escape along the tertiary road that contacts with the village of San Andrés.
The quick military reaction to block the escape, led this person to leave the vehicle containing 96 packages wrapped in vinyl tape, which were found by troops in the back chairs and in the sit-in.
The narcotic drug with a cost in the illicit market of 626,000,000 COP and the van, were put into custody of the authority.
