In the last month, during search and river and Ground control operations, carried out by units of the Colombian Navy in conjunction with troops of the National Army, and in coordination with the National Police, 14.6 kilograms of coca base paste, more than 72 tons of cement and more than 10 thousand gallons of fuel were found by troops; these are precursors that would be used for the production of illicit substances.
Troops of the Navy Infantry River Battalion No.17 as part of river operations in the municipalities of Cáceres and Caucasia - Antioquia, found 3,044 gallons of DIESEL and 12.5 tons of cement. At the same time, 420 gallons of DIESEL were found by troops in the municipality of La Gloria - Cesar, which were being transported without the corresponding documentation, such as the Certificate for Handling of Controlled Chemical Substances. According to naval intelligence information, this material would be used for the production of cocaine hydrochloride.
Subsequently, in search and river control operations in conjunction with the National Army, it was possible to find 14.6 kilograms of coca base paste, which had been abandoned in five plastic containers on the banks of the Magdalena River in La Gloria - Cesar.
In the same way, troops of the Navy Infantry River Battalion No. 16 as part of river control operations, in the department of Chocó, found 60 tons of cement and 2,052 gallons of DIESEL in the municipality of Carmen del Darién. At the same time, 5,400 gallons of gasoline were found by troops in the municipality of Quibdó. This material was destroyed in the area of operations; it apparently belonged to the Pablo José Montalvo Cuitiva substructure of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo.
The other solid and liquid supplies were put into custody of the authority for not complying with the requirements established in Resolution No. 0001 of January 08, 2015, in order to effectively counter the direct or indirect use of chemical substances that can be used for the extraction, production and refining of illicit drugs and, in the same way, for illicit activities related to illegal mining.
Finally, thanks to the heavy operation of the troops of the Navy Infantry Battalions 13th and 14th, in the departments of Bolívar, Córdoba and Sucre, 19 individuals were arrested as part of different operations. They apparently had several packages containing illicit substances in their possession. Once the Approved Preliminary Identification Test - PIPH was carried out, it was determined that it was coca paste base and marijuana.
