This project benefits more than 300,000 inhabitants of Santander, Norte de Santander and Boyacá, who depend of the trade in agricultural products.
Soldiers of the National Army, together with the Government of Santander, Risk Management Authorities, mayors and people in general, carried out the reopening of the road between the municipalities of Malaga and Concepción, Santander, thanks to the installation of a US-made Bailey-type military bridge, which directly connects the departments of Norte de Santander, Santander and Boyacá, which live mainly of the commercialization of agricultural products of the interior of the country to the border with Venezuela.
The previous structure was destroyed by the heavy rains on April 11, which caused the ravine to grow, and forced most drivers to look for alternative roads, which increased the trips time up to 6 additional hours.
With this work conducted by soldiers of the 90th Special Operations Engineer Battalion, carried out in a time of 10 days, will benefit more than 90 thousand inhabitants of the region and those who transit through the Central Trunk of the North.
This work generates an important impact in the region, because it not only demonstrates the commitment, management and institutional coordination at the service of civilians, but it also is evidence of the work and Resources of the National Army in Support and Defense of the Civil Authority, to open roads of development, security and progress in the region.
