In the framework of a joint operation conducted by the Military Forces, the lives of 41 migrants of different nationalities were safeguarded in the Pescador Key to the southwest of the island of San Andrés.
After several days of follow-up and collection of information and analysis by the intelligence agents of the Colombian Aerospace Force, where it was possible to have knowledge of the departure of a ship bound for Central America, the boat was detected moving suspiciously to the south of the island and immediately a Rapid Reaction unit of the Coast Guard station was sent to the area in order to verify the situation.
When carrying out the interception at sea, it was found that the ship was traveling irregularly and did not have the minimum security conditions, which is why, it was taken by the Colombian Navy crew to the main Coast Guard dock in San Andrés.
After checking the good health of the people of Venezuelan, Vietnamese and Peruvian nationalities, including eleven minors, they were put into custody of Migración Colombia and the Family Commissariat respectively; as for the driver of the boat and his companion, who are from San Andrés, they were arrested and put into custody of the Judicial Police.
