For this individual, who had more than 14 years of criminal history, there were current arrest warrants for the crimes of association to commit crimes, aggravated homicide, manufacturing trafficking and carrying or possessing firearms. He was in the same way accused of operations of forced recruitment of minors.
Within the framework of operations to protect civilians, framed within the Ayacucho Joint Strategic Campaign Plan, the Military Forces, with intelligence of the National Police, dealt a severe blow to the command and control of some structures of the so-called Central Staff of the FARC dissidents.
In the village La Concha, a rural area of the municipality of Yondo, Antioquia, troops of the National Army, the Aerospace Force and the Police, found the place where alias Pedro or Alfredo Jiménez, the ringleader of Structure 37 and coordinator of structures 4, 24 and 36 with violent interference in the region, was hiding. There, the criminal defendant was fleeing of the operations deployment that was being carried out against him after several denunciations of selective homicides, extortion, forced recruitment and drug trafficking.
His death occurred in armed combats in the framework of military operations. The rest of the members of his security fled the place and at this time they are being sought by the troops in the area.
The information provided to the national toll-free hotline 107 against terrorism facilitated the operations aimed at neutralizing the threats of this individual.
In the event, an individual was arrested and a Tavor 5.56mm caliber rifle (which was used by this ringleader), a pistol, a revolver, a traumatic weapon, ammunition of different calibers, military accessory material, communications equipment, an iPad, USB sticks and a laptop computer were seized. The detainee and these elements were put into custody of the authorities.
For information to arrest alias Pedro or Alfredo Jiménez, the authorities provided a reward of up to 116 million pesos, since he was accused of several criminal operations against civilians and the Military Forces.
In September 2019, he participated in the terrorist operation by launching an explosive device against the police substation of the Las Mercedes village, in Sardinata, Norte de Santander, which left more than 16 injured among members of the Military Forces and inhabitants. Similarly, in November 2021, he ordered the kidnapping of seven people in a rural area of the municipality of El Tarra. A year later, in December 2022, he kidnapped four inhabitants of the municipality of Santa Rosa del Sur, in the department of Bolívar.
In 2023, he led the kidnapping of a soldier of the Jungle Battalion No.48 of the National Army in Santa Rosa del Sur, on January. Later, in the same municipality, in March, it was learned that he entered rural schools and education centers with several of his armed men to carry out indoctrination activities for minors.
At the end of the same month, several mayors of the Magdalena Medio region, during a security council, told Defense Minister Iván Velásquez that they were being subjected to threats and pressures by this criminal for the payment of extortions in exchange for not attacking their lives.
Alias Pedro or Alfredo Jiménez joined the Front 1 of the former FARC in 2009. In 2016, despite the peace talks, he decided not to participate and continue his criminal activity. Two years later he was sent to Norte de Santander to form the structure 33 of the dissidents. In 2019 he took over as the ringleader of that group and in 2022 he arrives in the department of Bolívar in order to restructure the so-called Magdalena Medio Bloc. This year he had been appointed head of structure 37 and coordinator of structures 4, 24 and 36.
According to intelligence information collected and provided by the police, alias Pedro or Alfredo Jiménez, was appointed to consolidate the dissidents in that area of the Middle Magdalena and thus generate confrontations against the GAO Clan del Golfo in the south of Bolívar and northeast of Antioquia.
In the area where the incident took place, the operations deployment of troops continues with the aim of continuing to weaken this illegal group and thus contribute to the social and economic development of the region.
