In 2023, the army in the department of Huila has found about 4,200 million pesos.
Within the framework of the Ayacucho Plan, troops of the Magdalena Battalion of the Ninth Brigade, in a coordinated work with CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Prosecutor's Office, dealt a resounding blow to the illicit activities of criminal structures, by finding about 1,000 million pesos, about USD 242,000.
The operation was reported in the village El Cedro, Bruselas village, in Pitalito, Huila; there, a thorough search of a truck that was covering the Bogotá-Mocoa route led to finding 42 packages with bills of 20,000, 50,000 and 100,000 pesos on the roof, the central glove compartment of the cabin, the back of the copilot chair and the doors of the vehicle.
According to preliminary investigations, the money would be used for the purchase of narcotics, the main source of financing for organized armed groups.
The man arrested for the alleged crime of money laundering was put, along with the money and the vehicle, into custody of the authority.
It is a significant blow that leads to neutralizing the criminal plans to finance attacks against civilians and the Military Forces, by strengthening the armed component of this group with weapons and logistical material to continue to conduct illicit drug trafficking business.
