So far and according to the figures provided by the local authorities, there are 84 families, including 94 children and 184 adults and elderly, hit by the conflagration.
After the serious fire that consumed at least 50 houses in the neighborhoods of Santander and Villa Juliana, in the south of Armenia, Monday night and early Tuesday, the National Army, in support of the rescue agencies of the municipality, sent more than 80 men in search and rescue and security tasks.
Since Monday night, the soldiers, together with the National Police, were in charge of ensuring the safety and security of the inhabitants, creating a security operation to the adequate assistance to this emergency, by the Firefighters, the Civil Defense, and the Red Cross and in the same way, helping in the evacuation of families to safe sectors.
Since the early hours of Tuesday, the men of the disaster response platoon of the Combat Engineer Battalion No. 8 Francisco Javier Cisneros, arrived at the place in order to carry out control and mitigation tasks so that the conflagration ends completely and prevent the conflagration from continuing and also to recover the belongings of the hit families.
This unfortunate event, whose causes are still unknown, leaves 84 families hit, consisting of 94 children and more than 180 adults and elderly, who are being helped by the different authorities of the city of Armenia.
