Units by land, rivers and air, in a sustained operational effort, have been decisively damaging the different structures of the dissidents that base their illegal economy on drug trafficking, the illicit exploitation of mining deposits, extortion, among other crimes.
Twenty members of the dissidents killed in the framework of military operations, 17 more surrendered to justice and another 17 arrested, as well as nine dismantled camps, 20 mined areas and 600 anti-personnel mines neutralized, are some of the main figures left so far by Operation Trueno, a major military effort led by the Military Forces in Cauca.
The military operations by land, river and air are mainly directed against the Carlos Patiño, Jaime Martínez and Dagoberto Ramos structures, accused of multiple crimes such as those that occurred last week where two vehicles loaded with explosives were activated, mainly harming civilians.
That is why the General Command of the Military Forces ordered the sending of more than 200 men of Colombian National Army, who will support the troops who are already in operations, mainly in the north and south of the department.
They will be complemented by components and equipment, human and technical, of the Navy and the Aerospace Force who will be fundamental to detect and hit the main routes and mobility routes of criminals, as well as their illicit activities derived mainly from drug trafficking, extortion and the illicit exploitation of mining deposits.
Helicopters, airplanes, unmanned aircraft, boats, as well as ground patrols in key and strategic places are some of the tools sent by the General Command of the Military Forces to close the way to the terrorist intentions of these organized armed groups.
In the same way, these six squads have been deployed in municipalities of the department considered as prioritized areas, such as Suárez, Miranda, Buenos Aires, Santander de Quilichao, Caloto and Corinto.
It is precisely the Micay Canyon, a place in Cauca where criminals have historically made criminal activities, the place that in recent days was retaken by the Military Forces, and where it has been identified that around the dismantled guerrilla camps there are hundreds of hectares of illicit plantations.
The Military Forces have already sent their troops in municipalities of the north of Cauca, mainly in Suárez and Buenos Aires after the events reported in Timba. It should be noted that more than 300 alerts have been mitigated thanks to military intelligence information from Colombian National Army that led to the prevention of crimes such as terrorism, kidnappings, homicides, drug trafficking, among others.
