At the San Isidro Air Base, in the city of San Isidro, Santo Domingo Este, the Zeus- Caribbean exercise began, combining the resources of the Air Forces of the Dominican Republic and Colombia to combat transnational crime and its consequences, by uniting leadership and Resources to shield the sovereignty of both nations.
This is a strategy that becomes transcendental in the commitment that both states share against the illegal use of airspace, transnational crime and its consequences; in the same way to strengthen cooperation ties, interoperability, as well as strengthen techniques, tactics and procedures in air operation.
Major General Aviation Technician, Carlos Ramón Febrillet Rodríguez, Commander General Air Force of the Dominican Republic and Brigadier General Nieto, Commander of Air and Space Operations of the Colombian Aerospace Force made the official opening of the exercise, accompanied by pilots and members of the Air and Missile Defense of the two countries.
During the twenty-seventh version of the Zeus- Caribbean exercise, air patrols will be carried out increasing the surveillance of routes identified as critical for the trafficking of illicit substances, with the SR-560 Colombian Aerospace Force5761 and Two A-29B FAD 2902 aircraft and a 212 FAD 3501 fighter and a UH-II FAD3077.
In the same way, maritime control missions will be carried out, using naval ships to detect boats of the main organized crime actors, ratifying the importance of international cooperation and combined work against drug trafficking.
