The Joint Task Force Hercules in relation to the events that occurred in the village of Berlín, municipality of Tumaco, last Saturday, March 24, reports:
Approximately at 08:05 in the morning, the troops of the Rapid Deployment Battalion No. 4, who engaged in military surveillance and control operations in the village of Berlín, municipality of Tumaco, were attacked by terrorists of the Organized Armed Group of the ELN, who activated a car bomb.
The terrorist operation was executed by the company Elder Santos of the Southern Communist Front of the ELN, commanded by alias "Camilo Pantaloneta", who had left a vehicle on the road that leads from Tumaco to Pasto.
During this terrorist operation the Soldier Francisco Alberto León Vásquez, unfortunately dies due to the seriousness of the wounds.
First Corporal Jeison Andrés González and Soldier Iván Darío Cuastumal were wounded in the place. They were immediately evacuated to the city of Pasto, who, according to the medical report, are stable at this moment.
The Military Forces reject these terrorist acts of the ELN that, again, using unconventional means and methods of war, clearly prohibited by the International Humanitarian Law, in a vile and cowardly way, attack the troops that carry out military operations for the protection of the region and the strategic assets of the nation.
The Joint Task Force Hercules, accompanies the family and friends of this hero of the Homeland, who gave his life in the line of duty.
