After 20 days of work, the Military Engineers have restored traffic on the road that connects the municipalities of Istmina, Condoto, Novita and Rio Iró
Due to the heavy wave caused by rains, this sector of the department became isolated, when the previous bridge collapsed, damaging not only vehicles traffic, but hundreds of families who depend on agriculture to survive, in this situation the National Army sent its Differential Resources to reestablish mobility on this important road route.
Thirty-three 33-man Special Operations Engineer Battalion No.90 and of the Fifteenth Brigade worked tirelessly to unite the communities of this sector with two 39.62-meter ACROW-type semi-permanent modular metal bridges that are joined in an intermediate support by an element called "broken span block" which leads to join the bridges and distribute the loads, for a total length of 79.24 meters in Triple Simple Reinforced Three configuration (TSR3) and has a capacity of 52 tons.
The coordinated work conducted by the National Army, the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management and the Government of the Department of Chocó will benefit more than 50 thousand inhabitants of the region who from now on will transport safely and calmly.
Once again, our Military Engineers show their commitment to vulnerable communities by putting their knowledge at the service of Colombians to work for the well-being of their inhabitants.
