Within the framework of the strategic partnership that Colombia and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization NATO have built, the Colombian Aerospace Force participated in the annual conference of Partner Air Commanders, which brought together 22 countries, at the headquarters of the NATO Allied Air Command (AIRCOM) at the Ramstein air base, in Germany on November 08 and 09, 2023.
During this annual Partners Air Chief Conference - PACC, Major General Carlos Fernando Silva Rueda, Second Commander and Chief of Staff representing the Colombian Aerospace Force, presented the main challenges in regional security and the contributions that have been made in terms of surveillance and airspace control, mainly through the air interception strategy ZEUS in the regional and hemispheric context.
The PACC is configured as the main environment for cooperative dialogue conducted by NATO partners, sharing a vision around transnational challenges and international security dynamics in the air and space domain, as well as the exchange of experiences and good practices based on common interests.
Colombia is recognized within the framework of NATO as an important contributor to hemispheric security efforts. Its evolution as a global partner is reflected in the establishment of an Adapted Individual Partnership Program (ITPP) in force until 2025, where strategic lines of cooperation related, among others, to education and training, resource development and interoperability, building physical fitness, climate change and security are analyzed.
The conference chaired by General James B. Hecker, Commander of the NATO Allied Air Command, was attended by the organization's partner countries, including Australia, Japan, Ireland, Austria, Jordan, and Colombia, the latter being the only representative of the American hemisphere.
