Thanks to the coordinated work conducted by Colombian National Army, the Aerospace Force and the National Police, it was possible to transfer two people injured by anti-personnel mines to a specialized medical care center.
The event occurred at about noon on Thursday, November 9, in the village of La Punta, village of El Vergel, in the municipality of La Llanada, where two peasants of the sector, while carrying out their own activities on their lands, activated an explosive device that caused serious injuries in different areas of the body, so their prompt evacuation to a medical center to the capital city of the department was required.
In the frame of the unfortunate event, one of the men (20-year-old), who suffered injuries in the face and abdomen area, and the other, 45, with damages in the left foot, were helped by the people of the area, and with the support of a medical team of the Fire Department were taken to the municipal main offices, where through the Military Forces and Police it was possible to extract them by air.
For its part, the Twenty-Third Brigade, in its commitment to the health care of these people, carried out the different coordination for the evacuation of the wounded, as well as the securing of the landing space for the aircraft and also the deployment of the soldiers to secure the sector, making it possible to transfer these two people to the city of Pasto, where they receive specialized medical assistance. This operation of solidarity was given thanks to the union of efforts by Colombian National Army, the Aerospace Force and Police.
It should be mentioned that in this area of the department of Nariño there is a dispute over the mobility routes used for drug trafficking between members of the organized armed group ELN and members of the residual organized armed group; finally, the peasants are the main victims and in some cases the fatalities due to these explosive devices.
Colombian National Army rejects this type of events that attack the security of our peasants in the department of Nariño, at the same time denouncing this as a violation of international humanitarian law and violation of the human rights of the inhabitants who reside in the sector.
