Around 5,000 people hit by the overflow of the Meta, Bita and Orinoco rivers, have received support of the soldiers of the Military Forces, through the National Army, the Air Force and the National Navy.
The critical situation faced by the inhabitants of the municipalities of Puerto Carreño, La Primavera, Santa Rosalía and Cumaribo in the department of Vichada, keeps health services on alert as well as The National Unit for Risk and Disasters Management, National Police, Red Cross, Air Force, National Navy and National Army that with its men of the Twenty-Eighth Brigade and Support the of the Command of Comprehensive operation and Development, through the Comprehensive operation Battalion No. 8, responded to the emergency call due to the heavy rains that have left 1,747 families with no home, 15 neighborhoods in danger and some pedestrian bridges destroyed.
It is important to highlight the articulated effort of the different institutions that have worked hand in hand with the community during the winter. The National Unit for Disaster and Risk Management has helped 5,062 people, with 400 tents with capacity for four people and the distribution of 2,550 food kits, 2,550 toilet kits, 6,900 blankets and 2,450 mosquito nets.
The Air Force has helped with 21 hours of flight transporting 52.5 tons of aid; the National Police has transported 2.5 tons through 5 aircrafts and boats and the National Navy has carried out several river activities for the transfer of aid to Puerto Carreño, Cazuarito and La Venturosa.
In the same way, the Red Cross has worked to provide its help to the victims through river support and distribution of humanitarian aid. The men of the National Army have made a great effort in Support with the distribution of tents in Puerto Carreño and Santa Rosalia, and its MI helicopter has transported 1.2 tons of humanitarian aid.
Undoubtedly, the rapid operation of our soldiers of the country has led to help and safeguard the wellbeing of the population inhabitants of 15 neighborhoods of the department. In this way the National Army works with dedication and commitment for the Department of Vichada. Faith in the cause!
