Department of Chocó. The National Navy conducted two maritime interdiction operations, with the support of the National Police, safeguarding the lives of 149 foreigners in the municipality of Sapzurro, municipality of Acandí, Department of Chocó.
In the three intercepted ships, 105 adults were transported, including two pregnant women and 44 minors, coming from Ghana, Pakistan, Republic of the Congo and Sierra Leone, who were trying to make their way to Central America.
The group of foreigners as put into custody of Migración Colombia - Capurganá. In the same way, the eight people who transported them were captured and put into custody of the authority for the alleged crime of illegal trafficking of migrants.
This year, the National Navy and the National Police have rescued 1 550 migrants and have made 59 arrests in 23 operations against this crime in the Gulf of Urabá.
