Since the very moment that the events occurred, I think about the sadness that this family is experiencing, I think they did not deserve it, because the punishment must be for the bandits, those people who chose to be in charge of cultivating coca leaf, what poisons our youth and the whole world," said Botero.
"I know that words may help, that deep sorrow they are feeling has been lived very much in Colombia. May God wants we the Colombians do not have to relive it because of that cursed plantation of the coca bush," Minister added.
The head of the defense reported that Oquendo "this Saturday, fulfilling his constitutional duty, reminded the bandits that the Military Forces will never lower their guard and also each of our men wounded or killed in combat, will make us stronger and more decisive."
Finally, Minister Botero, highlighted that "the life of this warrior sailor, is a sign that our men of the Military Forces are made of heroism, courage and sacrifice."
