Bogotá D.C. Mothers of the military and police, victims of the armed conflict, with their project “Color and Hope for Our Heroes” since today, International Day of Peace, are part of the Fair of Productive Units Paziempre (forever peace). It is an event organized by the High Council for the Rights of Victims, Peace and Reconciliation, which takes place in the Plaza de Bolívar in Bogotá.
The PaZiempre Fair is a peacebuilding space, where the population victim of the armed conflict fosters the entrepreneurial culture and encourages their business orientation, marketing the accessories of their productive projects and small businesses at fair price. There are more than 20 productive units of victims of the armed conflict living in Bogotá, who in the same environment showed sell items such as handicrafts, jewelry, flowers, clothing, decorations, footwear, food, among others.
In this case, Color and Hope for Our Heroes is a productive project in which the mothers of our military victims joined in an arduous process of resilience and learned how to make rudimentary paper and all the possible products that can be manufactured from this material, such as diaries, present bags, cards and boxes.
These manufactures serve as a therapy to overcome the violent and traumatic events of which their siblings were victims, leading them to have a way of improving their living conditions and, above all, to make visible the military victims and their families. This is good not only for remembering them but also to be an essential part of the collective historical memory of the country.
This is the first time that military victims participate in the traditional PaZiempre Fair and will continue to do so every time the event takes place. The Joint Strategic Command of Transition through the Department of Transition Support and the Victims and Land Restitution Directorate accompany and support this peace building process.
