After the last forest fire occurred in the month of August in the municipality of Estrecho, in Patía, on the Pan-American Highway that ended with about 80 hectares of plantations, damaging the ecosystem of the place and hitting the population that lives in the sector, the National Army with the support of other state institutions achieved the reforestation of this site.
Thanks to the support of the Autonomous Corporation of Cauca and the El Paraíso Garden center, it was possible to obtain 200 wooden trees seedlings of fast growing that will enter to repopulate the green areas so important for the environment.
The reforestation activity was supported by members of the Regional Autonomous Corporation of Cauca, students of the INEDER school, National Police and different local residents, who together with the soldiers of the 29th Training and Recurrent training Battalion, of the Twenty-ninth Brigade, planted 200 trees inside the military unit.
With this environmental activity soldiers benefit the ecosystem, the civilian population and more than 900 military that periodically arrive at this center of Recurrent training as part of their military preparation, since in this place the temperature reaches an average of 40 degrees Celsius, which hinders outdoor training activities. Similarly, activities aimed at protecting the environment continue to be strengthened by the institution, since we are aware of the importance of nature in the life of all human beings.
