In the framework of the Esparta Military and Police Campaign, and as a result of the operations carried out by the Rapid Deployment Force No. 3, in Norte de Santander, in coordination with the National Police, they discovered abundant war material, military garments and communications radios that would belong to the Organized Armed Group (GAO) Clan del Golfo, the operation was carried out in the hamlet Arrayanes, San Faustino municipality, in Cúcuta, in the department of Norte de Santander.
Men of the Unified operation Group for Personal freedom GAULA (ANTI-EXTORTION AND ANTI-KIDNAPPING GROUP) of Norte de Santander and the Directorate of Criminal Investigation and INTERPOL DIJIN, after conducting the corresponding intelligence tasks, with the support of the Attorney General's Office, established the place where the self-named front 'Marco Fidel Barba', kept the material hidden.
Given the constant military operations against this front that had been committing crimes over the border area and the capture of several of its members who have been captured and the judicial procedures against others, they decided to hide the materials and separate.
The armament, the communication equipment and the military accessories was hidden in the middle of the vegetation and wrapped in black plastic, in the place the troops proceeded to extract the material that was later put into custody of the authority.
Regarding the war materiel, troops found nine Galil 5.56 rifles, seven AK-47 rifles, one M-4 rifle, one M-60 machinegun, 2343 cartridges caliber 7.62, 1850 cartridges 5.56 caliber 5.56, and 93 magazines and four hand grenades.
Regarding the communications and logistics material, the troops found 20 radios for communication, 27 vests, three campaign bags, hammocks and camouflage fabrics.
With this blow against the structure and logistics of this organized armed group, the front 'Marco Fidel Barba' is disarticulated, which loses this material it used to commit crimes and intimidate the population with the payment of extortions, homicides, kidnappings and conspiracy to commit a crime in this area.
