The Colombian Air Force through the Air Combat Command No. 5 maintains its sustained effort in operations against illegal mining and drug trafficking in Antioquia and Chocó through the Launch Base of Remotely Manned Aircraft – BLART (in Spanish).
Thanks to this new capacity, intelligence and recognition missions are carried out on the areas of El Bagre, Segovia, Caucasia, Remedios, Zaragoza and Tarazá, among others, with the aim of combating criminal operations that harm the environment such as illegal exploitation of mining deposits.
In less than two months of operation important results have been obtained by the joint and coordinated operations with the Army and the National Police, such as the destruction of nine dredgers and the intervention on mining production units.
