Thanks to the work carried out by Military Intelligence, it was possible to destabilize this armed structure and its finances.
In execution of the Military and Police Campaign Agamemnon II Plus, the Seventh Division with troops of the Deployment Force against Transnational Threats of the National Army, in development of a joint military operation with the Colombian Air Force, in the hamlet known as the Colorado, rural area of the municipality of San José de Uré, in the department of Córdoba, achieved a resounding blow against the organized armed group GAO Clan del Golfo.
Through aircraft of the National Army, the Colombian Air Force, and the ground effort of the soldiers of the Army, in military operations, four members of the Rubén Darío Ávila substructure of the GAO Clan del Golfo, died. They were in a meeting planning operations against the Security forces and the civilian population of Bajo Cauca in the frame of the territorial dispute with other GAO’s, for the control of drug trafficking, extortion and other illicit activities in this region.
In addition, a large quantity of war material, military garments and communications were found by troops, such as eight rifles, a pistol, a 22-millimeter shotgun, more than 3,000 cartridges, 39 magazines, a machine-gun cannon, 10 multipurpose vests, 22 campaign teams, 11 camouflaged pixelated of exclusive use of the Military Forces, and communications material.
Additionally, troops reported the capture of two members of the 'Rubén Darío Ávila Martínez' substructure of the GAO Clan del Golfo and a recovery of a girl who had been forcibly recruited by members of this armed structure. The troops, acting under the regulations established in International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights, immediately provided first aid through the combat nurses. Subsequently, these individuals were displaced in a helicopter equipped with search and rescue personnel of the Army Aviation, to a medical center in which they are being treated.
