The search and control operations were carried out in Las Delicias, in the municipality of Puerto Leguízamo, in the department of Putumayo and Peñas Blancas, in the municipality of Solano, in the department of Caquetá, where at the time of the inspection, it was possible to find two structures floating, 300 gallons of fuel, 70 kilograms of mercury and several elements for the illegal exploitation of mining deposits.
These operations are part of the fight against illicit activities that put the environment at risk, which have been carried out jointly during the week, where three individuals were caught in flagrante delicto; they were carrying out deforestation activities in the area of the village El Dolce, in the municipality of Solano, in the department of Caquetá.
The environmental damage prevented with these operations is significant, taking into account that it contributes to the protection of La Paya National Natural Park, in the municipality of Puerto Leguízamo, in the department of Putumayo and the Sierra de Chiribiquete National Natural Park, which in the Amazonas region, between the departments of Caquetá and Guaviare, with an extension of more than four million hectares that make it the largest protected area of the natural parks system in Colombia. This two important parks, were being harmed by the indiscriminate practice of illegal mining and deforestation.
So far this year, the National Navy, through the Naval Force of the South, has managed to find more than thirty dredges used for the illegal extraction of minerals, in its area of responsibility, in southern Colombia.
