Troops of the National Navy verify the information received from a member of the community of the village Curiche Nuevo of the municipality of Juradó, in the department of Chocó, as well as the Municipal Representative of Juradó, about the alleged presence of members of the Armed Organized Group - GAO Clan del Golfo, which were threatening the inhabitants of the sector.
Once the information was received, the troops that were conducting operations in the area, moved to the sector where they have inquired with the community and the different authorities such as the National Police, the Mayor's Office of Juradó and the Ombudsman's Office, without confirmation of the information.
Since September, the National Navy launched the operation 'Armadura' to close the drug trafficking routes that are disputed by organized armed groups of the ELN and the GAO Clan del Golfo', in the department of Chocó, making a deployment of troops, maritime and fluvial units that strengthened operations in the northern region of this department.
The operations have been carried out especially in the areas of Punta Brava, Punta Ardita, Punta Piña, Curiche, Guarín, Coredó, Patajona, Aguacate and Octavia, in the municipality of Juradó, places used by organized armed groups as drug trafficking routes. These routes are objective of heavy operations that have hit the drug traffickers and have guaranteed the protection of vulnerable communities declared in imminent risk alert by the Ombudsman.
The National Navy asked the authorities, such as the Mayor's Office of Juradó, the Personería, the National Police, the Ombudsman, among others, to hold a meeting to review the situation and implement strategies to clarify the facts.
