In the framework of the Plan Diamante II, troops of the Twenty-ninth Brigade, of the Third Division of the National Army, neutralized alias 'Walter', member of the residual organized armed group Structure Tercera. The events took place in the rural area of the municipality of Guapetón, municipality of Cajibío, in the department of Cauca, where troops of the Infantry Battalion No. 7 'General José Hilario López' held strong firefights against this organized armed group, which is accused of carrying out drug trafficking activities and extortion, as well as threats to the population of this municipality in Cauca.
It should be noted that alias 'Walter' had an extensive criminal record, including the manufacture of firearms and narcotics trafficking. In the same way, according to intelligence information, he was a member of the first company in the Teófilo Forero mobile column, with influence in the departments of Huila and Caquetá. Subsequently, he entered the GAO-r Grupo Tercera that commits crimes in the municipalities of Morales, Cajibío, Timbío, Piendamó and Suárez, in in the department of Cauca.
This individual, in addition, was in charge of collecting information to use it against local merchants, he demanded money in exchange for not attacking on their victims or the life of a member of their families. Additionally, he was appointed to collect the money from drug trafficking, and served as head of the security group of alias “Pipe”.
