- The National Navy built a two-story construction to house the elderly in a unified operation project of the State that will improve the quality of life of those who live in the Divino Niño Foundation for the elderly, the municipality of San Andrés de Tumaco, in the department of Nariño.
- The work that cost 46 million pesos will improve the quality of life of 33 elderly people who today can enjoy a dignified and comfortable space, as well as being able to receive other vulnerable older adults in the region.
This work began as a dream in 2016, when the Anti-Narcotics Task Force "Poseidon" of the National Navy, was attending the needs of the Divino Niño Jesús Foundation for the elderly. The foundation presented the project to build a shelter for 16 older adults to the institutions and merchants of the municipality of Tumaco. After the pertinent studies, in February 2017 the adjustments were made to make this purpose come true.
The project will initially benefit 33 people who currently live permanently in the elderly home, but in the same way seeks to expand the range of services provided by the foundation to other older adults who today do not have a place to spend their last years of life with dignity.
The construction consisted of a two-story structure, it has rooms with capacity for 16 people, a bathrooms and laundry, and it cost 46 million pesos, managed with the private company of Tumaco. The building was built by 12 men of the Infantry of the Navy of the Comprehensive Action Company of the National Navy.
During the ceremony of inauguration of the work, the inhabitants of the home "Ancianato Alegres" showed gratitude to the support of the National Navy, in this process for their wellbeing and improvement of the quality of life.
For his part, Efren Emilio Angulo, Representative of the Divino Niño Jesus Foundation for Senior Citizens highlighted: "I thank the great operation of the National Navy, the support they have been providing not only in the construction of this new shelter, but in all the recreational and wellbeing activities for the people who inhabit the building and the floating population of senior citizens who benefit daily of the services of the foundation. I am grateful for the committed support of the Marine men who for 21 months were building this shelter, despite the heavy climate, and I hope that its support to the foundation continues to take place to make pleasant the life of those who already arrived at their golden years ".
