During military operations, in the framework of the Diamante Christmas Plan and in coordinated work with the National Police decisive blows are given to organized crime.
Troops of the Task Force Quiron in simultaneous operations, coordinated with the National Police and the Attorney General of the Nation, captured five people accused of belonging to the terrorism support network of the residual GAO substructure “first” (Primera), who perpetrated extortion to the merchants of the capital city of the department of Arauca.
The captures were made through search proceedings in different parts of the urban area of the capital city, after the constant work of intelligence and investigations carried out by the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group), SIJIN (Police) and CTI (Technical Investigations Corps), detecting two women and three men who were conducting intelligence on the troops and extortions against the merchants through intimidation in strategic neighborhoods such as the Güires, Playitas, Las Americas, Santa Fe, Union, the El Recreo La Invasion and the malecon sector, generating panic and anxiety in the community.
The individuals, who are in the same way presumed to be involved in the murder of a merchant last October, were put into custody of the authority and will face a judicial process for the crimes of aggravated homicide, conspiracy to commit a crime, trafficking or possession of firearms and qualified and aggravated robbery.
