In a joint and coordinated river operation, units of the Colombian Navy, attached to the Joint Task Force Titan, troops of the National Army and units of the National Police, find and destroy machinery and materials that were used for the illegal exploitation of mining sites in the municipality of San Isidro, Department of Chocó.
Eight mining production units, two dragons (a kind of dredges), three excavators, three Cummins-type engines, three welding plants, two electricity generators, four pump-type engines, six gas cylinders, eight oxygen cylinders and 3,800 gallons of DIESEL were found by troops at the site, which would be used for illicit exploitation of mining sites in the municipality of San Isidro, Department of Chocó.
The destroyed material would cost approximately 6,650 million COP, which damages the illicit activities of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, who, thanks to this hard operation, will no longer receive 650 million pesos a month.
Simultaneously, troops of the River Navy Battalion No.16, attached to the Joint Task Force Titan, find destroyed a laboratory for production of coca base paste in the Caño Montería sector, in the municipality of El Carmen del Darién, Department of Chocó.
Within this complex, troops found 64 kilograms of coca base paste, 20 gallons of fuel, two gallons of poison, three gallons of ammonium and 50 kilograms of coca leaf, materials that were destroyed at the site of the finding.
It is important to highlight that the residues of these chemical substances are left indiscriminately by criminal groups to water sources, contaminating the environment considerably.
