In the facilities of the Eighteenth Brigade, the Commander of the National Army, General Nicacio de Jesus Martinez Espinel, presided over a meeting to address issues of law and order in the department of Arauca in order to strengthen the operations dynamics of the Security forces framed in the Constitution.
At the event, which was attended by members of the National Police of the regional order, the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation and Public Prosecutor's Office with representatives of the Attorney General's Office and the Ombudsman's Office, issues such as social protests, attacks on the pipelines, terrorist attacks against the civilian population, threats to social leaders and judicial processes of members of organized armed groups who commit crimes in this area of the country, were subject of the talks.
The objective of these problems put on the table is to create strategies to mitigate the negative impact on issues of development and perception of security, while receiving first-hand reports of the control agencies in the area that will be taken to (be studied) at national level by the National Army that acts as a communication bridge or intermediary between the central order and the different communities in the country.
Among the conclusions of the meeting there is the discourse of the Military Units on the guarantee to protect the fundamental rights, making visible the demands on social investment, the needs to reinvigorate the work tables with the leaders of social protests, especially those of the oil industry, generating agreements for access without limitations when it comes to repair damages on the critical infrastructure of the State where the main victim is the ecosystem and therefore the population.
