Individuals of this organization tried to block a main road in the South of the department of Bolivar crossing vehicles in order to attack on the troops and activate an area prepared with explosives.
Troops of the Fifth Brigade, of the Second Division of the National Army, in a joint operation with the National Navy, Air Force and coordinated with the National Police, reached the kilometer 20 of the road that connects the municipality of San Pablo to the municipality Simití , in the south of Bolívar, where delinquents of the Eln blocked the road with three vehicles with messages alluding to this organized armed group, intimidating the community and significantly damaging the mobility of the sector.
Immediately, the security protocols were activated by the troops of the 'Nueva Granada' Battalion and military police of the Magdalena Medio, who, when initiating the movements for the inspection at the point blocked by the vehicles with the aim of restoring the transit, by military intelligence detected that on an area bordering the road, a few meters of the place, there was one of the alleged terrorists of the ELN, who when noticing the presence of the authorities tried to flee.
According to the first information, alias 'Moisés' by orders of alias 'Pica Pasto', head of finances group of the front “Heroes and Martires de Santa Rosa” of the Organized Armed Group Eln, had the mission of alerting through a radio on the proximity of the troops to the decoy vehicles with the purpose of activating the explosives few meters far to hit the soldiers and policemen who bravely would carry out the operation of restoring the vehicular transit.
During the search, thanks to the support of “Pluto” an anti-explosive dog, it was possible to establish that the vehicles were empty and a few meters away, right at the root of a tree, the terrorists of the Eln hid an device loaded with 20 kilos of Anfo (explosive), eight batteries with activation system, 20 meters of two wire cable and two short-range communication radios for the activation of the radio frequency explosive.
This is a clear evidence of how the ELN uses various trick measures to call the attention of the authorities and in a vile and ruthless way activate explosives without any consideration for the civilian population, flagrantly violating International Humanitarian Law.
Alias 'Moisés' will be judged for the crimes of terrorism and trafficking, carrying and manufacturing of explosives, and at this time he is into custody of the judicial authorities.
