With these captures, the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) of the 13th Brigade has already detained seven members of this residual group of the Farc, commanded by alias 'Arturo'.
Troops of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) of Cundinamarca with support of the Sumapaz Infantry Battalion, the Technical Investigation Corps of the Prosecutor's Office and the First Specialized Prosecutor of Arauca, through research work carried out during the last months found and established the modus operandi of three individuals belonging to the residual Organized Armed Group E1-10 “Martin Villa”, of the extinct Farc, with actions in the department of Arauca, such as extortion and kidnapping with the objective to finance that structure.
The criminals were captured in the municipality of Soacha after establishing that they were the ones who demanded one billion pesos from a well-known transport company of the municipality of Fusagasugá, in Cundinamarca, which refused to meet their economic demands, so the structure increased its threats and burned some vehicles of the company to press the required payment.
Thanks to the monitoring of Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) Cundinamarca it was possible to capture the extortionists when they apparently tried to carry out an attack against the company's personnel, by order of the FARC's residual structure. At the time of the arrest the troops found a vehicle, two firearms, three cell phones and a letter with threats of the criminal group.
The individuals will have to face charges for the crimes of conspiracy to commit crimes, terrorism, aggravated extortion and illegal carrying of firearms. According to the investigations, this structure is in charge of extorting merchants and businessmen in Bogotá and the department of Cundinamarca; the 13th Brigade of the National Army reiterates its commitment to continue neutralizing this type of operations that attack on the tranquility of the inhabitants of the center of the country.
