At the terminal “Fabio Alberto León Bentley”, in Mitú, in the department of Vaupés, a Caravan C-208 was moved in a medicalized configuration from the Air Combat Command No.2, to safeguard the life of an indigenous woman in pregnancy who required medical assistance in a greater complexity health center.
The 38-year-old patient belongs to the indigenous community Santa Isabel and in her last month of gestation she began to feel heavy pains that forced her to go to the medical center. Her symptomatology and health condition demanded immediate assistance.
The timely coordination of the National Center for Personnel Recovery of the Colombian Air Force with the personnel of professionals of the “San Antonio de Mitú” hospital, led to carry out without any trouble a mission of aeromedical transfer for the woman and her husband who accompanied her in flight.
For two hours, the military medical personnel monitored the patient's vital signs, guaranteeing her stability, well-being and pain management until landing at the Captain Luis Francisco Gómez Niño Air Base, where she was waited to be transported to the departmental hospital of Villavicencio
