The individuals, apparently, would be part of the terrorist support networks of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Eln. At the time of their capture, the soldiers found important war material, military accessories, communications and cash.
Troops of the Santander Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) of the Fifth Brigade of the Second Division of the National Army, in an interagency work with the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) attached to the Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) and the support of the Engineers Battalion 'Francisco José de Caldas', captured three allegedly members of the terrorism support networks of the 'Efraín Pabón Pabón' front of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Eln, who would be responsible of the kidnapping of the father of the mayor of the municipality of Guaca, in Santander, last June.
The captures were made in the municipality of Berlin, in the municipality of Tona, Santander, by search warrant, where thanks to follow-up work carried out by the Intelligence unit of Gaula of Santander with the support of the Military Intelligence Battalion No.2, troops found alias 'Marino', 'Silvo' and 'Tiro Loco', who frightened the people of the municipalities.
Troops seized a 7.62-caliber Steyr Austria rifle, a 38-caliber Smith & Wesson revolver, a 22-caliber pistol, a 16-caliber Smith & Wesson multi-loading shotgun, a rudimentary 16-gauge shotgun made of long-barrel, magazines and cartridges for them. In the same way, black military uniforms, scarves, 15 cell phones, 17 Sim Cards, about four million pesos in cash and patches alluding to the Eastern War front of GAO Eln.
The individuals were put into custody of the judicial authorities and must face charges of extortion, conspiracy to commit crimes for extortion and kidnapping for extortion.
