Prepared to deal with any eventuality, the Colombian Air Force, FAC, counts on crews constantly trained in the use of high-tech equipment that are useful to face natural disasters.
For this type of operations the Specialists in the use of Rescue Equipment - TER, are prepared to install in the UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter the specialized elements used by the Institution to carry out missions such as rescue, search and rescue, insertion and personnel extraction and fire extinguishing with the use of Bambi Bucket system, which helps access any water source with a minimum depth of one meter, with a filling capacity of 2,400 liters in two minutes, dumping water with different intensity according to the emergency.
In the same way, the Director of the Administrative Department of Assistance, Prevention and Recovery of Disasters, DAPARD, Jaime Enrique Gómez Zapata, knew the mission carried out by the Air Combat Command No.5, and he stated that the Institution “is an important tool for handling risks, a strategic ally and today we are here knowing the capabilities, the equipment that support us in the management of disasters.”
During the drought season, the number of fires tend to increase in areas close to sea level, so the Colombian Air Force is able to reach any place in the country with their aircraft and equipment, training permanently in order to always be ready and willing to react when necessary.
