Eleven offenders of Los Zorros group were captured in the municipality ‘La Victoria’, in the municipality of Ipiales, in the department of Nariño, on January 22, 2020.
In a transnational operation along with Ecuador, the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) in Nariño and in Cauca, in coordination with the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps), dismantled this group that perpetrated kidnaping against inhabitants of the neighboring country transferring their victims to Colombia and later demanding large sums of money to their relatives for the release of the victims.
This operation is the most important of this year. In addition to dismantling a group that for years committed crimes in both countries, a large number of criminals were neutralized.
It is noteworthy that the coordinated work and arduous research tasks, achieve great results, so that during the week from January 20 to 28, the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) reported the following captures: nine in Nariño, five in Valle, three in Cauca, two in La Guajira, and two in the Ariari region. In the same way, six individuals were captured for kidnapping in the departments of Cundinamarca, Casanare, Buenaventura, Norte de Santander, Chocó, and in the Eastern region of Antioquia; troops found several firearms.
