In a joint and coordinated operation conducted by the Colombian Navy, the Colombian Air Force and the National Police, 947 kilograms of marijuana and 32 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride were found. The drug were hidden in a hideout on the beaches of the sector of Ciénaga de las Piedras, near Isla Salamanca Park.
This operation is the result of the report received through the surveillance and control checkpoint of the Colombian Navy, in the area. As soon as the information was obtained, Units of the Coast Guard Station of Santa Marta, together with personnel of the Caribbean Naval Command Group moved to the place to conduct the respective review and finding of the material. Air Force aircraft extracted and transported the 24 bags with drugs to the city of Santa Marta.
Already in the capital city of Magdalena, members of the Judicial Police of the Directorate of Antinarcotics verified the sacks, finding 966 rectangular packages filled with marijuana and cocaine hydrochloride.
This successful operation prevents more than 5.8 million dollars, price of the drug in the US black market, from entering the financial structures of drug trafficking organizations. The materials were put into custody of the Judicial Police.
