Hundreds of farmers and farm workers are in their arduous and noble work of producing food. The department of Casanare is preparing for its annual harvest, where 150,000 hectares of rice are planted. They are protected by the aerial patrols carried out by the Colombian Air Force aircraft.
Thanks to this activity, food security, and rural employment are achieved and a great value chain is generated that benefit hundreds of people, including the farmers, the supermarkets and, of course, the consumers.
“Here is the strength, not only of the people, not only of the machinery and equipment with which harvest is possible, here is the Colombian Air Force, taking care and accompanying all these heroes of the rural area. We see on the ground when they are preparing their lands, in a continuous work before the rain wakes up, a time when the plantations will flourish,” said Juan Bernardo Serrano, a rice businessman in the region.
Casanare currently has a modern milling industry that has believed and invested in the department. There are 13 mills that guarantee the demand for 800,000 tons of rice provide by its farmers. Thanks to them this chain works and is projected to grow to about 200,000 hectares in the coming years.
The Colombian Air Force invites people to stay home while working to have an operational deployment with its aircraft in order to provide security to the peasants who are in charge of guaranteeing Colombians a plate of rice on their table and , in turn, constantly conducts air patrols to care for and ensure compliance with this quarantine of preventive isolation ordered by the National Government.
