This capture occurs in the framework of the curfew decreed by the District Mayor's Office to enforce quarantine and reduce homicide rates.
After four months of follow-up, the Colombian Navy, through the Pacific Naval Force, captured alias Jarry, a member of the Organized Criminal Group La Empresa, who was one of the extortionists in the communes 10 and 12 in the port city of Buenaventura and right hand of alias Carlos Pepe, ringleader of this criminal group.
The capture was made in the Unión de Vivienda neighborhood minutes after the order of curfew, as a measure to reduce the high rates of violence in recent days.
The 24-year-old man was surprised by troops of the Buenaventura Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group), attached to the navy Infantry Brigade No.2, when he was traveling on a motorcycle by one of the streets of the popular neighborhood.
More than 100 million pesos a month were collected by this individual in criminal activities carried out against merchants in the sector, including kidnapping and extortion.
It was established that alias Jarry, who had a valid arrest warrant issued by the Fifth Municipal Court, would be linked to this criminal organization more than five years ago, working hand in hand with alias Mama Daisy, who was in the same way captured last February.
Alias Jarry was put into custody of the Attorney General's Office to answer for the crime of kidnapping aggravated with extortion.
With this capture, the Colombian Navy manages to deal a severe blow to this Organized Criminal Group, which constrains and intimidates the merchants in this sector of the city of Buenaventura.
